Civic Society Awards

The Civic Award

This award, presented for the first time in 2011, recognises outstanding service to the community. It is awarded at the discretion of the committee and may be made to any member of the public.

The award for 2015 was made to Lorraine and Ray Vant for all their efforts on behalf of the community.

The Chairman's Award is made annually, at his discretion, to a member or members for outstanding service to the Society.

The award for 2016 was presented by Peter Shipstone at the Annual General Meeting to Philip Mepham, for his support and exceptional work with all planning related matters.

The Best Buildings Awards 2015

The Society makes annual building awards that cover a broad spectrum. They might be for the sympathetic restoration of properties or premises or could even be for the construction of new buildings that harmonize well within the town. This acknowledges the benefit that the whole community derives from these efforts.
